The Second Lockdown - From a Young Adult

After grand speculation, the second lockdown is now upon us. Yet again, the nation screams out in panic as half of us are forced back inside - the other half, of course, being essential workers and school children. Yet again, we must begrudgingly adjust to our painfully familiar circumstances again. While forced inside, one must find ways to keep positive and entertained; personally, I like to indulge myself in my writing, I am an aspiring journalist and I thoroughly enjoy writing articles, poems and short stories. I also speak and interact with my friends through video games. Everyday we connect online and play our favourite games together for hours on end. Like everyone else, I have my hour of exercise every day - I usually spend mine walking the dog or skateboarding, a hobby I picked up in late 2015 and have been in love with ever since.
I often wonder about Covid-19’s impact on our future. Every day I read news from the BBC app and think about how that affects my current vision of the future. My generation is now transitioning into adulthood, and I often fear how different the economy and society will be when my peers and I move into independent living. What new requirements are we going to have to live by? Will this virus change the world forever?
The pandemic is having a significant effect on the rest of my family as well as me. I live with my mum, step dad, and my two sisters. My sisters - like me - are both 17 years old, and we are definitely not accustomed to spending much time together at all. As you may have been able to predict, this has become very strenuous on my mum and stepdad; both of whom are still working every day. Luckily, we were able to stick together through the first lockdown, and it is looking like we shouldn’t encounter too much trouble through this one either.
